Applicants are invited to apply for a post as a general Consultant Neurologist, a specialist interest is desirable. You will join a team of neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists, and neuro intensivists/Neuro-anaesthetists at our newly established Neuroscience Centre at Istishari Arab Hospital in Ramallah.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our existing team which provides general and sub-specialist patient care at the first Neurosciences Centre of Excellence in Palestine. The Neurology outpatient and in-patient services are supported by a dedicated Neurophysiology service.
Candidate Profile
Responsibilities
- Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough neurological examinations to assess patients symptoms, medical history, and diagnostic tests to determine the nature and cause of their neurological conditions.
- Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose various neurological disorders such as epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, Alzheimers disease, and peripheral neuropathies.
- Treatment Planning: Develop personalized treatment plans, which may include medications, physical therapy, rehabilitation, lifestyle modifications, and surgical interventions, as needed.
- Patient Management: Provide ongoing care to patients, monitoring their progress, adjusting treatment plans when necessary, and addressing any complications or side effects of treatments.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, radiologists, neurosurgeons, and physiotherapists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Research and Education: Stay updated with the latest advancements in neurology through continuous medical education and contribute to research projects or clinical trials within the field.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to improve their quality of life.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, test results, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Consultations: Provide consultations to referring physicians and healthcare professionals regarding complex neurological cases.
- Emergency Response: Be available for emergency consultations and stroke service and participate in on-call rotations as required by the hospital/clinic.
Qualification
- Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent).
- Completion of a residency program in neurology OR Clinical training.
- Board certification in neurology or equivalent credentials.
- Palestinian medical license to practice as a Neurologist or equivalent.
Required Experiences
- Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Recognized teaching skills course/ medical education qualification.
- Exposure to a variety of working environments.

Working Conditions
The successful applicant will be expected to provide expert patient assessment in diagnosing and managing all neurological conditions in both in-patient and out-patient settings. They will be required to actively engage in and develop Neurology services and to provide clinical leadership to others. A flexible approach will be required to work for our hospital. They will work collaboratively with colleagues to skills to provide new ways of working across different professions and organizations.
