We are seeking to a Senior Fiber Optics Network Engineer to lead the design, commissioning, configuration, and optimization of fiber access and backbone networks. The role requires deep technical expertise in FTTH/FTTx architectures, strong execution capability, and the ability to guide engineering teams while ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and review fiber optic network architectures (FTTH, FTTx, metro, backbone).
Oversee installation standards, splicing quality, and testing procedures.
Manage contractors and vendors during rollout projects.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Lead network commissioning and service activation for new fiber deployments.
Configure OLT/ONT equipment and access network elements.
Validate end-to-end connectivity and acceptance testing.
Troubleshoot complex fiber network issues and perform root cause analysis
Optimize network performance and resilience.
Prepare technical documentation, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports.
Mentor junior engineers and field teams.
Support budgeting, cost estimation, and project timelines.
Define material specifications and Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for procurement.
Support preparation of technical scopes for fiber network tenders and RFPs.
Participate in vendor evaluation, technical compliance review, and bid analysis.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
7+ years of experience in fiber optic network engineering.
Proven experience in network commissioning and configuration of fiber access systems.
Strong knowledge of FTTH/GPON/XGS-PON design and activation procedures.
Experience configuring OLTs, ONTs, and access network platforms.
Hands-on expertise in fiber testing (OTDR, power meter, fusion splicing).
Familiarity with telecom standards and best practices.
Experience with GIS and network planning tools
Project management experience is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Strong knowledge of telecom tendering processes and procurement lifecycle.
Experience preparing technical tender documents and evaluating vendor proposals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications in fiber optics or telecom engineering
Experience with large-scale fiber rollout and commissioning programs Vendor coordination and contract.
