JOB SUMMARY





The Psychosocial Worker is responsible for providing expert services to community members in need for individual and/ or group counselling, this involves MHPSS case management, individual counselling sessions, family counselling sessions, psychoeducation activities, and/ or group counselling sessions. The Psychosocial Worker will contribute to capacity building of program volunteers and other relevant staff members of the project’s partners. The role involves contributing to providing on-the-job technical support to the project’s volunteers.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES





 







  • Provide Psychological First Aid, psychosocial support, mental health case management, psychosocial group activities, community awareness and trainings.


  • Develop care and safety plans that are individualized, mutually developed and jointly monitored with the beneficiary.


  • Monitor on-going care plan development with special attention to safety issues.


  • Establish long and short-term goals in case planning.


  • Coordinates the provision of social services to beneficiary, caregivers, families, and significant others (includes referrals) to enable them to deal with the impact of mental illness on individual family functioning and to achieve maximum benefits from healthcare and support services.


  • Serve as a beneficiary advocate.


  • Make appropriate referrals to other services.


  • Conducts review for appropriate utilization of services from admission through discharge/termination.


  • Evaluate client/ survivor satisfaction and quality of care provided.


  • Facilitate group support sessions.


  • Maintains current and comprehensive client files and client logs as well as documentation related to group work, community activities and trainings.


  • Report on all tasks and responsibilities including referrals using collection tools provided by IMC.


  • Report on evolving needs in the community, gaps in service access, and trends among targeted populations relevant to

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS





 







  • A bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field of study.


  • Experience working in the social service field is preferable.


  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.


  • Experience working with children and women is preferable.


  • Experience in MHPSS, protection, or case management in a humanitarian setting is preferable.


  • Experience in MHPSS programming in emergency situations is preferable.


  • Knowledge of MHPSS and community outreach is preferable.


  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic.


  • Cultural sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different sectors of the community.


  • Good literacy, numeracy, and record-keeping skills.


  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
